Constructed in 2004 and 2005, this 1.7 million gallon digester became operational in January of 2006.  It was built of concrete and steel and has an internal heat piping system and two mixing pumps.  The biogas produced is used to operate a 375 kW electrical generator powered by a Caterpillar 3412 engine.  Biogas also fires a large boiler which is used to heat the digester, hot water supply, and the dairy milking facilities.  Any excess biogas production is destroyed by burning it in a large flare.  Effluent leaving the digester is separated with a solids separator and the solids are used for bedding in the dairy freestalls.

During the summer of 2009 the digester and the equipment were cleaned and repaired.  Modifications were made to the mixing pump system, the engine controls, and more insulation was added.
